The main character is an ordinary employee who works for a large company. Like all other people, he lives by certain patterns, orders furniture from catalogs and quietly goes with the flow. Previously, the guy had only one hobby – visiting certain groups where people with incurable diseases came. It was in such groups that the hero could feel like a living and happy person who had everything he needed. However, after a while, even such hobbies stopped bringing him pleasure, because they were joined by a girl named Marla Singer, who also has no problems and is more successful in life.<br />

One day, the hero meets a man named Tyler Durden, whose life is very different from his own life. Tyler believes that modern men are incapable of much, but the hero does not think so. And one day they have the opportunity to vent their steam outside, so they start fighting with each other, as a result of which people gather around them who like such fights very much. As a result, a fight club is organized in which anyone can fight. Thus, the main character got a hobby that he liked.
